Job summary

JPMorganChase within the Rates Technology team is seeking a Lead Software Engineer who will be a core technical contributor, helping to design, build, and deliver trusted, scalable technology solutions.

You will work in an agile environment, mentor engineers, promote security and resilience, and collaborate with external vendors and internal teams to advance architectural decisions and production excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 5+ years in a fast-paced software development team.
• Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Advanced in one or more programming languages, preferably Python.
• Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
• Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.

Responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
• Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
• Identifies opportunities to automate remediation of recurring issues to improve stability of software applications and systems.
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive architectural decisions and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.
• Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new technologies.
• Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 5+ Years of experience working in a fast paced software development team
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Advanced in one or more programming language(s) preferably Python
• Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
• Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security

• In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
