Job summary

Vertical Scope Group in Canberra is seeking a driven Lead Cryptography Security Engineer with TSPV clearance to support Defence and National Intelligence programs.

You will design, implement and operate cryptographic solutions across on‑premises, cloud and hybrid environments, spanning KMS, HSMs and PKI, while upholding ISM/PSPF requirements.

This role emphasizes security assessments, risk analysis, engineering documentation and clear guidance to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and supporting cryptographic solutions in enterprise or classified environments.
• Experience with KMS, HSMs, PKI and encryption technologies.
• Experience integrating cryptographic services across cloud, hybrid-cloud and on-premises environments.
• Knowledge of ISM and PSPF security frameworks.
• Ability to communicate complex security concepts to stakeholders.
• Experience at SFIA Level 5 or equivalent.

Join Vertical Scope Group’s (VSG) Professional Services Division in Canberra as we are seeking a driven, highly skilled and experienced TSPV-cleared Lead Cryptography Security Engineer to join our award-winning team in supporting critical Defence and National Intelligence Community programs.

About the role:

• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and supporting cryptographic solutions within complex enterprise or classified environments.
• Strong experience with Key Management Systems (KMS), Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and encryption technologies.
• Experience implementing cryptographic key lifecycle processes, including key generation, storage, rotation, archival, recovery and destruction.
• Experience integrating cryptographic services across cloud, hybrid-cloud and on-premises environments.
• Strong understanding of contemporary cryptographic principles, protocols, standards and secure integration patterns.
• Experience conducting security assessments, technical risk analysis, vulnerability management and security assurance activities.
• Knowledge of Australian Government security frameworks and requirements, including the ISM and PSPF.
• Ability to provide specialist technical advice and communicate complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience developing technical documentation, engineering standards, operational procedures and implementation guidance.
• Demonstrated ability to operate at SFIA Level 5 or equivalent.

The role is Canberra-based and primarily onsite, with occasional work-from-home arrangements considered. Applicants must hold a current AGSVA TSPV security clearance.
