Job summary

Compas Pty Ltd in Canberra is seeking a Lead Cryptography Security Engineer to oversee enterprise cryptographic engineering across KMS, HSMs, PKI and encryption services on a Canberra-based, onsite role with no regular work-from-home accommodation. The position requires TSPV clearance and is a 12-month contract with possible extensions.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide specialist security advice to stakeholders.

Job Title:
Lead Cryptography Security Engineer | KMS & HSM
Lead enterprise cryptographic engineering across secure ICT environments, designing and supporting Key Management Systems (KMS), Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), PKI and encryption services. This Canberra-based role is onsite, with regular WFH unable to be accommodated.

Location: Canberra, ACT
Work Arrangement: Onsite – regular WFH cannot be accommodated; occasional requests considered.
Contract Duration: 12 months, with possible 2 x 12-month extensions
Security Clearance Requirement: TSPV
Closing Date: 10.00am, 7 October 2026

Essential Tasks:

• Design, deploy and configure enterprise KMS infrastructure and cryptographic services.
• Manage cryptographic key lifecycles, HSMs, PKI, encryption and certificate services.
• Integrate cryptographic capabilities across cloud, hybrid-cloud and on-premises environments.
• Conduct security assurance, risk analysis, hardening and vulnerability remediation.

Key Criteria:

• SFIA Level 5 capability in cryptographic engineering within secure enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise across KMS, HSMs, PKI, encryption and key lifecycle management.
• Experience with security risk, assurance, accreditation and vulnerability management.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to provide specialist technical security advice.
