Job summary

Egis is seeking a technically excellent Principal Signalling Design Engineer to join our Railways and Systems team in Australia. You will lead independent design reviews, verification and principles verification of conventional signalling designs for national projects, applying your rail signalling expertise to guide design teams and deliverables.

You'll manage design packages, mentor junior engineers, and provide technical advice to clients while ensuring safety, reliability and performance

Qualifications

• 12+ years in railway signalling and specialist knowledge of conventional signal design
• IRSE license and QR/ARTC competencies are required
• CPENG highly desirable; RPEQ registration preferred
• Strong understanding of design control, project management and interfaces with power, comms and civil

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of signal designers and signal design engineers for medium to major projects and tenders, with responsibility for design activities and deliverables
• Manage design package approvals, reports and management plans
• Design, check, independent verification and final sign-off of high-level signalling documentation (feasibility studies, technical requirements, SOWs, bonding/cable plans, control tables, power calculations)
• Design, check and conclude independent verification of trackside signalling, train detection, SCADA and interlocking systems
• Provide technical guidance to clients and project stakeholders on interfacing operational systems
• Lead principal testing and simulation testing activities
• Prepare project performance and financial progress reports
• Mentor and guide junior signalling and project engineers
