Job summary

GenesisCare Cairns is seeking an Assistant Unit Leader to join our radiation therapy team. You will lead, mentor and support Radiation Therapists, ensuring safe clinical practice and patient-centred care while collaborating with Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists.

Qualifications

• A recognised qualification in Radiation Therapy and current registration with AHPRA.
• Strong clinical experience in radiation therapy with emphasis on pre-treatment, treatment, QA and patient safety.
• Strong commitment to clinical quality, patient safety and best practice with proactive improvement mentality.
• Demonstrated leadership potential or experience in mentoring or coordinating clinical activities.
• Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills for multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Genuine interest in coaching and developing other Radiation Therapists.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support and mentor Radiation Therapists within the department, ensuring safe clinical practice and excellence in patient-centred care.
• Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, QA processes and safety standards.
• Champion a culture of patient safety, clinical accountability and continuous improvement, supporting incident management and service improvements.
• Coordinate daily workflows, staffing and resources to ensure safe service delivery and effective patient scheduling.
• Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists, Pre-Treatment Leaders, Medical Physicists and the wider MDT.
• Support introduction of new technologies and treatment techniques with proper training and safe implementation.
