Job summary

GenesisCare in Cairns, Queensland, is seeking a Unit Leader to oversee our Radiation Therapy team. You will lead clinical practice, uphold patient safety, and drive a high‑performing, collaborative environment.

You'll mentor therapists, ensure adherence to protocols, and champion continuous improvement while working with state‑of‑the‑art technology such as Varian linacs and AlignRT, contributing to patient‑centred care in a tropical lifestyle location.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Radiation Therapy and current AHPRA registration.
• Strong clinical experience in radiation therapy.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a team setting.
• Commitment to patient safety and high clinical standards.
• Excellent communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support and mentor Radiation Therapists within the department, fostering safe clinical practice and excellence in patient-centred care.
• Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, quality assurance processes and safety standards.
• Champion patient safety, accountability and continuous improvement, supporting incident management and service improvements.
• Coordinate daily workflows, staffing and resources to ensure safe service delivery and continuity of care.
• Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists, Pre-Treatment Leaders, Medical Physicists and the wider team.
• Lead the introduction of new technologies and changes to clinical practice with proper training.
• Oversee workforce planning, leave management and rostering for sustainable service delivery.
• Lead performance development processes, including setting expectations and providing feedback.
