Job summary

Fortescue Metals Group invites an experienced Senior Process Control Systems Specialist to join our Chichester Hub (Christmas Creek & Cloudbreak) on a 4/3 FIFO roster ex Perth. You will lead PCS initiatives across PLC, SCADA and DCS, guiding site teams, delivering automation projects and driving safe, efficient operation.

Collaborating with Maintenance, Operations, Projects and Shutdown teams, you will manage FAT/SAT, commissioning, risk assessments, and optimisation opportunities, including

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with process control experience; or electrical trades with advanced qualification.
• Extensive experience in industrial control and automation systems including PLC, SCADA and DCS design, integration, programming, testing, commissioning and maintenance.
• Experience delivering technical projects within mining, processing or heavy industrial environments.
• Strong leadership, with ability to mentor others and influence stakeholders.
• Sound understanding of operational safety, risk management and industry regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven decisions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership across Process Control Systems (PCS), including PLC, SCADA and DCS technologies.
• Support planning, execution and commissioning of automation and control system projects, ensuring safe and effective delivery.
• Collaborate with site leadership, engineering teams, contractors and stakeholders to deliver operational improvements.
• Oversee commissioning plans, FAT, SAT, technical queries and project handovers.
• Ensure compliance with project quality requirements including ITPs and NCR close-out.
• Participate in project risk assessments and live infrastructure assessments.
• Identify opportunities for process optimisation and decarbonisation initiatives.
• Use data-driven insights to demonstrate measurable business value.
