Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment is assisting an established Australian EPC contractor in Adelaide to hire a Lead Power Systems Engineer. You will own power systems studies and modelling for HV substation design, collaborating with primary, secondary and protection engineers across studies, design and delivery.

The role demands 5+ years in power systems, strong modelling skills in DIgSILENT PowerFactory and PSCAD, and a deep understanding of Australian network standards and NSP projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in power systems engineering.
• Strong hands-on modelling and analysis capability.
• Experience delivering studies in support of HV substation design.
• Extensive DIgSILENT PowerFactory experience.
• PSCAD experience preferred.
• Solid understanding of Australian network standards and NSP projects.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform power systems studies and detailed modelling.
• Deliver network analysis required for HV substation design.
• Perform load flow, short circuit and network stability analysis.
• Develop and validate models for transformers, transmission lines, generators and inverter-based resources.
• Assess designs against NER, AEMO and NSP requirements.
• Interpret study results and provide practical recommendations to the design team.
• Support projects through detailed design and commissioning.
• Review technical work and mentor junior engineers.

Position: Lead Power Systems Engineer

Location: Adelaide, SA

Salary: Up to $185,000 base + super

Design & Build is working with an established Australian EPC contractor growing its engineering team across major transmission, substation and renewable energy projects.

We're looking for a Lead Power Systems Engineer with strong hands-on modelling and analysis experience who can make an immediate technical impact within the team.

The Role

This is broader than a traditional grid connection role. You'll take ownership of the power systems studies and modelling required to support HV substation design, working closely with primary, secondary and protection engineers throughout detailed design and delivery.
