Job summary

Preacta Recruitment is hiring a Senior PHP Software Engineer to build a cloud-native platform from day one in Australia. You will own architecture decisions, production quality, observability and reliability, shaping the platform end to end rather than just implementing tickets.

You will design production-grade PHP microservices, own MySQL performance tuning, and integrate AWS services in a highly autonomous role. Hybrid work with Sydney CBD office is available.

Qualifications

• Proven, recent production PHP experience in a cloud-native context, not WordPress or agency work.
• Experience building scalable, decoupled microservices with emphasis on maintainability.
• Advanced MySQL knowledge including indexing and query tuning at scale.
• Solid AWS experience and cloud-native application development background.
• Track record of end-to-end ownership including incident response in business-critical scenarios.
• Daily use of agentic coding tools with real examples of impact on productivity.

Responsibilities

• Design and build production-grade PHP microservices and cloud-native platform components from scratch.
• Own advanced MySQL database design, query optimisation, and performance tuning at scale.
• Integrate AWS services such as S3, SQS, SNS, and Cognito into the architecture.
• Utilise agentic coding tools as a day-one requirement.
• Own incident response, observability via CloudWatch and Dynatrace, and reliability of all shipped components.
• Collaborate with product, design and QA to shape technical direction rather than just executing tickets.
