Job summary

Corrective Services NSW is seeking a Metal Fabricator – Trade Overseer at Macquarie Correctional Centre. You will lead a prison-based fabrication workshop, coaching inmates in welding and metal fabrication while ensuring safe, high-quality operations and driving work readiness programs.

The role combines hands-on workshop management with mentoring and training responsibilities, contributing to rehabilitation and employment opportunities for inmates across the Central West region.

Qualifications

• Certificate III (or equivalent) in Metal Fabrication, Boiler making, Welding or related trade.
• Extensive post-trade industry experience within fabrication or manufacturing.
• Strong practical knowledge of workshop operations and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead prison-based metal fabrication workshop and mentor inmates in fabrication, welding and workshop skills.
• Deliver workplace training and support traineeships.
• Ensure safe, high-quality operations and foster teamwork and accountability.
