Job summary

Transport for NSW is seeking a qualified mechanical tradesperson to step up as a people leader and safety professional in Narrandera. You will supervise a crew, maintain heavy vehicle plant and equipment, and uphold WHS standards while achieving quality objectives.

Leadership, planning and coordination are key to success. You will manage maintenance across a range of plant items, vehicles and equipment, participate in meetings, and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Qualified mechanical tradesperson with experience in heavy vehicles.
• Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
• Experience with installation, maintenance, repairs, commissioning and modifications.
• Strong leadership, safety and team‑building capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of tradespersons to maintain heavy vehicle plant and equipment safely.
• Carry out duties of Mechanical Tradesperson Grade 1–3.
• Ensure WHS standards and quality objectives are achieved.
• Lead a small crew on maintenance and repairs across plant items, vehicles and equipment.
• Support workshop operations and facilitate meetings and improvements.
• Conduct short‑term planning and assist with workshop management system administration.
• Support problem evaluation, continuous improvement, and conflict resolution.
• Order materials, record keeping, and perform WHS inspections.
• May require after-hours work, travel within the state, and work away from base.
