Job summary

Birdon Ltd. in Port Macquarie is seeking a Fitter Leading Hand to guide trades on marine defence and commercial projects, ensuring tasks are completed safely, to high quality and technical standards.

You will supervise a team, review drawings, assist with risk assessments and mentor apprentices, in a 4-day week with overtime Fri–Sun, within a coastal NSW setting offering diverse project opportunities.

Qualifications

• Trade leadership experience and ability to supervise tradespersons.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Commitment to safety and quality on offshore/defence projects.

Responsibilities

• Support the Supervisor to conduct risk assessments prior to production work in accordance with Birdon's Safe Work Management System.
• Ensuring safety processes are complied with.
• Setting up the job site safely and maintaining housekeeping requirements.
• Ensure team members are appropriately competent and trained to undertake the scope of work assigned.
• Training and development of apprentices.
• Role modelling of acceptable workplace behaviours consistent with Birdon's Code of Conduct and values.
