Job summary

AECOM in Western Australia seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to support major mining and related projects across WA and beyond. You will lead technical delivery, interface with clients, and guide engineering teams on crushing, materials handling and non-process infrastructure. Perth-based with site visit opportunities enhances project exposure.

The role emphasizes leadership, design of mining plant systems, and delivering results with commercial awareness across a dynamic project portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with consultancy or mining facility experience.
• Design and specification of mining plant, infrastructure, materials handling and fluids handling systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to produce technical documents.
• Experience delivering projects from initiation to execution with commercial acumen.
• Ideally 10–15 years post-graduate experience; Chartership is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide project engineering and technical leadership for projects and studies.
• Act as the client focal point and build relationships with customers.
• Deliver technical outcomes and ensure high-quality work on schedule.
• Engage in site-based projects and visits as required from Perth.
• Navigate workload flexibly and lead multiple tasks with agility.
