Job summary

Blacktown City Council's City Fleet workshop is seeking a Mechanical Apprentice Master and Quality Officer to maintain trucks, plant and equipment, diagnose faults, service and repair, and lead apprentice development.

You will coach apprentices, monitor progress, conduct audits, promote safe practices and drive continuous improvement to keep Blacktown City's fleet safe. This is a secure, permanent, full-time role with strong support for training and career growth.

Qualifications

• Experience mentoring apprentices in a workshop setting.
• Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills for heavy vehicles.
• Ability to ensure safety, manufacturer and regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to coordinate training and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Maintain trucks, plant and specialised equipment in City Fleet's workshop.
• Diagnose faults, service and repair vehicles.
• Lead day-to-day training and development of apprentice mechanics.
• Conduct quality inspections and audits; promote safe work practices.
• Support continuous improvements for quality and efficiency.
