Job summary

Blacktown City Council seeks a Mechanical Apprentice Master and Quality Officer to lead the workshop team, mentor apprentices, and ensure quality workmanship on trucks, plant and equipment. You will diagnose faults, service and repair, perform quality inspections and uphold safety and regulatory standards.

You will coach apprentices through hands-on tasks, assess skills, provide feedback and keep training records.

Qualifications

• Experience mentoring apprentices and leading workshop training.
• Ability to conduct quality inspections and audits.
• Proven Heavy Vehicle Mechanic with safety standards knowledge.
• Ability to maintain training and compliance records.

Mechanical Apprentice Master And Quality Officer

Keep Blacktown City moving while shaping the next generation of Heavy Vehicle Mechanics.

As a Mechanical Apprentice Master and Quality Officer, you work in City Fleet's workshop maintaining trucks, plant and specialised equipment that support essential Council services. You diagnose faults, service and repair vehicles, carry out quality inspections and make sure work meets safety, manufacturer and regulatory standards. At the same time, you lead the day to day training and development of apprentice mechanics.

You coach apprentices through practical workshop tasks, assess their skills, provide feedback and help them build the knowledge needed to complete their trade. You identify skill gaps, organise hands on training, monitor progress and maintain training and compliance records. You also conduct workshop audits, promote safe work practices and contribute to continuous improvements that support quality and efficiency.
