Whizdom is seeking a highly experienced Lead PL/I Design & Development Consultant to drive a major database migration for a financial services client. You will lead design and development for complex PL/I changes on IBM mainframes, ensuring quality and performance across online, batch and integration components.

The role requires hands-on leadership, deep mainframe knowledge, and the ability to transfer practical skills to the team while addressing technical risks and delivery readiness.

Qualifications

Extensive enterprise PL/I design and development experience on IBM mainframes.
Career depth typically associated with 20+ years in complex mainframe environments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with legacy database migration and mainframe diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

Lead technical analysis and detailed design for complex PL/I application changes.
Develop high-risk PL/I components and analyse large online, batch and integration codebases.
Lead troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and performance tuning.
Review designs and code, identify technical risks, and support testing and implementation readiness.
Provide hands-on technical leadership and practical knowledge transfer to the development team.
