Job summary

Whitsunday Regional Council in Collinsville is seeking a motivated Works Leading Hand / Grader Operator to join our team. This hands-on leadership role supervises a small crew, leads grader operations on road construction and maintenance projects across the region, and works on-site and in remote camp environments.

You will ensure work is carried out safely and to a high standard, manage site records, comply with traffic management guidelines, and be available for on-call duties and camping as

Qualifications

• General Construction Safety Induction (White Card) required.
• HR/HC driver's licence or willingness to obtain.
• Current First aid and CPR or willingness to obtain.
• Traffic Management Implementation or willingness to obtain.
• Traffic Controller ticket or willingness to obtain.
• Operate and Maintain Chainsaws or willingness to obtain.
• ACDC (Agriculture Chemical Distribution and Control) or willingness to obtain.
• OH&S competency in LR/LL/LB/LG/LF or willingness to obtain.
• Grader Operator competency/ticket

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise a small team of workers to ensure high-quality and efficient work.
• Capture accurate site records to meet the satisfaction of the Works Coordinator.
• Implement traffic management requirements as per guidelines.
• Ensure all on-site works and activities fully comply with state rules and regulations.
• Address customer service requests, complaints, and inquiries in a timely manner.
• Operate and maintain plant and equipment as required, reporting defects.
• Undertake on-call duties on a rotational basis and respond to emergencies.
• Be available for camping when required based on job needs.
• Report matters that could impact the business to the Supervisor or Manager.
• Relieve at other locations throughout the region when required.
