Job summary

AECOM in Australia is seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer to lead fire protection design across major projects, bridging technical delivery with leadership and client engagement. The role sits within our national Building Engineering team, operating in hybrid work arrangements across defence, education, health, commercial and more.

You’ll drive design across wet and dry systems, ensure NCC and standards compliance, and mentor engineers while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• 9+ years’ experience in Fire Protection / Services Engineering.
• Warning: 140 chars limit
• Experience leading medium to large multi-disciplinary projects.
• Ability to manage client relationships and contribute to bids.
• Engineering degree with accreditation or eligibility.
• Experience using Hyena, Revizto, Revit or AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Lead fire protection design across complex projects from concept to commissioning.
• Provide input on wet/dry systems and EWIS.
• Oversee design compliance with NCC, Australian Standards and authorities.
• Act as a key client interface supporting project wins and business development.
• Mentor and guide engineers; coordinate with other disciplines.
• Contribute to discipline strategy and technical standards.
