Job summary

Fleetwood Australia is seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to lead our estimating team and drive tender strategy from our WA facility. The role focuses on delivering accurate cost plans, complex tenders and cost‑effective project outcomes in a collaborative environment.

You will oversee workload coordination, provide technical oversight and mentor the team while engaging with design, manufacturing, construction, sales and procurement colleagues to improve processes and performance.

Qualifications

Lead the estimating team for a market-leading modular construction business, driving tender strategy, team performance and project success.

Fleetwood is seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to lead our estimating team based at our High Wycombe modular building facility. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for driving the estimating function, providing direction to the team, and ensuring tenders are delivered accurately, commercially and on time. You will set priorities, coordinate resources, review estimates, and build capability within the team while maintaining your own involvement in complex tendering and cost planning activities. Working closely with Design, Manufacturing, Construction, Sales and Procurement, you'll play a key role in shaping project outcomes, improving estimating processes and fostering a collaborative, high‑performance culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor and support the estimating team, providing guidance, direction and technical expertise.
  • Coordinate estimating workloads, priorities and resources to ensure key deadlines are achieved.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Lead the preparation, review and submission of estimates, cost plans and tender submissions.
  • Compile and review complex estimates and provide technical oversight across the estimating function.
  • Ensure accurate project costings through detailed quantity take‑offs, risk assessment and first‑principles estimating.
  • Build strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with Design, Manufacturing, Construction and Sales teams to achieve the best project outcomes.
  • Drive consistency across estimating processes, systems and reporting.
  • Support national estimating initiatives, cost databases and continuous improvement opportunities
About You

You are an experienced estimator with proven leadership capabilities and the ability to bring people together around a common goal. You enjoy developing others, creating structure and accountability, and leading a team that consistently delivers high‑quality outcomes.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Significant experience in construction estimating.
  • Previous experience leading, managing or developing estimating teams.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence, coach and build team capability.
  • Extensive experience preparing and reviewing complex tenders and cost plans.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of construction methodologies and project sequencing.
  • Experience using CostX or similar estimating software.
  • The ability to interpret architectural, engineering and construction documentation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent industry experience.
