Job summary

Macquarie University invites applications for a Teaching and Leadership academic in Environmental Sciences to contribute to teaching, curriculum development and governance within the School of Natural Sciences. The role delivers undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, engages with students, and supports curriculum reform and quality assurance.

Expertise in geomorphology and earth surface processes, and in supervising HDR students, is highly regarded.

Qualifications

• PhD in Environmental Sciences (geomorphology, earth surface processes, physical geography, earth surface observation, or related)
• Demonstrated teaching experience in Environmental Sciences at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
• Demonstrated understanding of pedagogy, curriculum design, unit renewal and teaching innovation
• Experience in course planning, academic governance and quality assurance processes, including assessment design and moderation
• Evidence of leadership, team management and collaboration, including coordinating teaching teams and mentoring staff
• Evidence of disciplinary discovery and scholarship and capacity to supervise postgraduate/HDR students

Responsibilities

• Some teaching experience in undergraduate and/or postgraduate units or courses in Environmental Sciences, including tutoring, demonstrations, lecturing and/or assessment
• Contribute to unit design, renewal and enhancement of teaching practice
• Contribute to course planning, academic governance and quality assurance processes including assessment design and moderation
• Support program-level curriculum reform, accreditation and continuous improvement
• Collaborate effectively within teaching teams and mentor academic and sessional staff
• Supervise or co-supervise HDR students appropriate to career stage
