Job summary

Austal Limited in Cairns seeks an ECP Lead Engineer to provide technical leadership for Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) across ISS contracts. You will coordinate MoCs, manage risk, and ensure changes are thoroughly investigated, justified and approved through governance.

You will mentor engineers and liaise with SMEs, design authorities, suppliers and clients. The role focuses on engineering definition and governance of changes, with some implementation support as needed, ensuring changes

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • 5+ years in sustainment, in-service or engineering change management, preferably in Defence or maritime.
  • Experience leading engineering change proposals, modifications or MoC activities.
  • Strong understanding of governance, configuration management and change control processes.
  • Ability to lead, coordinate and mentor engineers and manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and technical management of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) across ISS contracts.
  • Coordinate the Management of Change (MoC) process ensuring safety, configuration, and regulatory impacts are addressed.
  • Manage the ECP pipeline, prioritise work and monitor progress for timely delivery.
  • Lead investigations and develop recommendations for modifications, repairs, or upgrades.
  • Define the engineering basis and scope for proposed changes, including interfaces and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate input from SMEs, design authorities, technical authorities, suppliers and customers.
  • Perform technical risk assessments and analyses for proposed changes.
  • Ensure documentation is complete and approved through governance processes.
  • Develop and manage engineering deviations and concessions as required.
  • Prepare and manage Requests for Problem Resolution (RPRs).
  • Coordinate CAD updates and documentation updates for ECPs and changes.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers within ISS Engineering.
