Job summary

Kenway & Clark seeks an experienced Leading Hand Diesel Mechanic to lead day-to-day activities in our Cowra or Young Service departments. This role combines hands-on diagnostics and repairs with workshop coordination and customer communication.

You’ll balance hands-on mechanical work with planning workloads, monitoring progress, and guiding apprentices while upholding safety standards and quality. Experience in agricultural machinery is preferred.

Qualifications

• Qualified Diesel/Heavy Diesel or Agricultural Mechanic with strong diagnostic and repair experience.
• Ability to plan work and manage changing priorities
• Clear communication with customers, technicians and other departments

Responsibilities

• Plan and allocate workshop and field service work
• Set daily priorities and adjust to customer needs
• Work on agricultural and construction equipment alongside the team
• Diagnose faults and assist others with complex technical problems
• Track progress of repairs and address delays
• Review technician time, parts usage and job documentation
• Prepare estimates and recognise changes in scope or cost
• Keep customers informed throughout the repair process
• Coordinate parts requirements with the branch Parts department
• Check completed jobs for quality and completeness
• Coach apprentices and develop less‑experienced technicians
• Promote safe work practices and maintain an orderly workshop
• Help improve labour recovery, productivity and workshop processes
• Raise operational, customer and staffing concerns with the Branch Manager when required
