Job summary

Roussos Recruitment is seeking an experienced Lead Designer or Architect for a newly created role in Adelaide's residential design team. You will lead the architectural design process from client brief through concept development and documentation, delivering bespoke homes.

Working closely with an in-house interiors team, you will translate briefs into practical, buildable designs that respond to site, budget and lifestyle.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of architectural or building design experience, ideally within custom residential.
• Lead client consultations and develop bespoke designs from concept.
• Good technical knowledge of residential construction, buildability and site constraints.
• Ability to balance design outcomes with client budgets.
• Registration as an Architect advantageous, but not essential.
• Collaborative, team-first approach with a willingness to share ideas.

The Opportunity

An established Adelaide residential builder is looking to appoint an experienced Lead Designer or Architect to take a key role within its in-house design team.

Working across custom homes, you will lead the architectural design process from the initial client consultation and site assessment through concept development, design refinement and documentation.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys the creativity of residential design but also understands how to turn a great concept into a practical, buildable home. You will work directly with clients to understand how they want to live, interpret their brief and develop a tailored design that responds to their lifestyle, site and budget.

You will also work closely with an established team of three Interior Designers, creating an integrated approach between architecture and interiors throughout the design journey.

The Role

You will take ownership of residential design projects, working directly with clients and collaborating closely with the interiors and broader project team.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading client consultations and translating briefs into bespoke residential designs


• Developing concepts with consideration for site, orientation, buildability and budget


• Reviewing and interpreting existing concepts and sketches to develop practical design solutions

The Like Mind

You will be an experienced Architect, Building Designer or Design Lead who enjoys bespoke residential design, working directly with clients and being part of a collaborative team.

Ideally, you will bring:

• 5+ years of architectural or building design experience, ideally within custom residential


• The ability to lead client consultations and develop bespoke designs from concept


• Good technical knowledge of residential construction, buildability and site constraints


• The ability to balance design outcomes with client budgets and practical considerations


• ArchiCAD proficiency, or the capability and willingness to learn, with Enscape advantageous


• Registration as an Architect advantageous, but not essential


• A collaborative, team-first approach with a willingness to share ideas and listen to others


• A genuine client focus and desire to create homes that respond to each client's needs, lifestyle and budget
