Billigence in Australia is seeking Senior / Lead Data Engineers to join our Data Cloud Practice. This role suits individuals who are passionate about hands-on data engineering delivery and client-facing consulting, with the ability to step into leadership responsibilities.

You will work with leading global organisations across industries such as banking & finance, insurance, government, telco, media, and FMCG.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of experience across data engineering, cloud computing or data warehousing.
• Strong technical expertise in Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift or Microsoft Fabric.
• Strong background in data modelling, ETL processes and SQL.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management with a consulting mindset.
• Ability to step into a lead role, even without prior leadership experience.

About the Role

We are seeking Senior / Lead Data Engineers to join our growing Data Cloud Practice in Australia. This role will suit individuals who are passionate about both hands‑on data engineering delivery and client‑facing consulting, with the ability to step up into leadership responsibilities.

You will work with leading global organisations across industries such as banking & finance, insurance, government, telco, media, and FMCG. The role is split across 80% technical project delivery and 20% leadership responsibilities, supporting the Practice Lead in capability building and delivery quality.

What you’ll do

• Deliver cloud-based data engineering solutions for blue‑chip clients.
• Provide technical direction, thought leadership, and best practices in data engineering.
• Work directly with stakeholders in pre-sales, requirements gathering, and solution design.
• Mentor and support team members, with the potential to grow into a leadership role.
• Drive delivery excellence across a variety of industries and client engagements.

What you’ll need

• 7–10 years’ experience across data engineering, cloud computing, or data warehousing.
• Strong technical expertise in one or more: Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, Microsoft Fabric.
• Strong background in data modelling, ETL processes, and SQL.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with consulting mindset.
• Ability to step into a lead role, even if prior leadership experience is limited.

Highly desirable:

• Prior consulting experience.
• Data solution design & architecture experience.
• Familiarity with dbt, Fivetran, Matillion.
• Programming experience (Python, Java, Scala).
• Relevant certifications (e.g., SnowPro).
