Job summary

City of Ryde is seeking an experienced leader to oversee waste services contract administration and resource recovery projects, providing strategic direction to support the delivery of domestic and commercial waste services.

You will lead a small team and collaborate with contractors, industry representatives and the community to improve service delivery, reduce contamination and advance circular economy outcomes.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Waste Management, Environmental Science, Business Management, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience developing and delivering resource recovery, circular economy or waste management programs and initiatives.
• Proven experience leading and motivating teams to deliver high-quality customer and operational outcomes.
• Strong contract administration, supplier management and performance monitoring experience.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management skills.
• Experience delivering community engagement, education and behaviour change programs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Council’s waste services contract administration and resource recovery projects.
• Provide leadership, technical expertise and strategic direction to support delivery of waste and resource recovery services.
• Lead a small team and collaborate with Council, contractors, industry reps and the community to improve service delivery, reduce contamination and litter, and advance circular economy outcomes.
• Monitor contractor performance, KPIs and contractual obligations; analyse operational data and conduct audits to support continuous improvement.
• Contribute to the Circular Economy Strategy, NSW resource recovery targets and policy development; provide specialist advice on waste management, regulatory compliance.
