Job summary

Mission Australia’s 60-bed residential aged care facility in Orange, NSW is seeking a passionate and experienced Chef to deliver nutritious meals, oversee catering, food safety and day-to-day kitchen operations, and mentor a small team. You’ll plan menus in line with NSW Health standards and budget, contributing to residents’ health and wellbeing.

The role is permanent full-time (38 hours per week) with not-for-profit salary packaging and other supportive benefits.

Qualifications

• Formal qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent catering experience.
• Strong knowledge of food safety programs (HACCP) and WHS practices.
• Experience planning menus and managing budgets for diverse dietary needs.
• Experience supervising and supporting a small kitchen team.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality service.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver nutritious meals in line with NSW Health and accreditation standards.
• Manage menu planning, food ordering, stock control and equipment inventory.
• Monitor food costs and maintain documentation for compliance.
• Oversee safe handling, storage and disposal of food and chemicals.
• Train and supervise kitchen staff to maintain high standards.
• Support CQI, WHS and HACCP initiatives and report risks.
