Job summary

Indie Campers is seeking a proactive Automotive Mechanic Supervisor to oversee the workshop operations and coordinate a team of mechanics. You will manage repair priorities, spare parts inventory, and budget control while upholding high safety and quality standards.

You will supervise daily activities, provide hands-on training, ensure efficient repairs, and liaise with suppliers to minimize downtime. This role offers a dynamic environment with cost-conscious process improvements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in mechanical repair and maintenance, preferably in campervans or similar vehicles.
• Knowledge of stock and spare part management systems.
• Budget management experience and a results-oriented approach.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of a team of mechanics, including scheduling, task allocation, and performance reviews.
• Provide hands-on guidance and training to ensure team members develop technical skills and adhere to company standards.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Plan, prioritize, and oversee campervan repair and maintenance tasks to minimize downtime.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance with safety regulations.
• Act as the primary point of contact for escalated technical issues or complex repairs.
• Monitor stock levels of tools, spare parts, and consumables, ensuring availability to meet operational needs.
• Coordinate with suppliers for timely procurement and negotiate cost-effective purchasing agreements.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and implement cost-control measures.
• Track and report on workshop performance metrics, including repair turnaround times and budget adherence.
• Propose improvements in processes to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
• Ensure adherence to workplace safety standards and regulations.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
