Job summary

Indie Campers in Sydney is seeking an Automotive Mechanic Supervisor to oversee our workshop operations. You will manage a team of mechanics, set repair priorities, and ensure quality and safety across all campervan services.

You will handle parts inventory, supplier coordination, and budget tracking while driving process improvements to reduce downtime. A degree in Automotive Mechanics and 5+ years workshop experience are preferred.

• Proven experience in mechanical repair and maintenance, preferably in campervans or similar vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of a team of mechanics, including scheduling, task allocation, and performance reviews.
• Provide hands-on guidance and training to ensure team members develop technical skills and adhere to company standards.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Plan, prioritize, and oversee campervan repair and maintenance tasks to minimize downtime.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance with safety regulations.
• Act as the primary point of contact for escalated technical issues or complex repairs.
• Monitor stock levels of tools, spare parts, and consumables, ensuring availability to meet operational needs.
• Coordinate with suppliers for timely procurement and negotiate cost-effective purchasing agreements.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and implement cost-control measures.
• Track and report on workshop performance metrics, including repair turnaround times and budget adherence.
• Propose improvements in processes to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
• Ensure adherence to workplace safety standards and regulations.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

THE ROLE
