Job summary

Eastern States Engineering is seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor to lead and coordinate the day-to-day workshop activities. The role requires hands-on leadership in a busy steel fabrication environment, ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery across modular, residential and commercial projects.

You will manage Leading Hands, monitor progress, review drawings and production documentation, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining a positive, productive team culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a workshop supervisory or team leadership role, preferably in steel fabrication.
• Relevant trade qualification in manufacturing, steel fabrication or related field.
• Welding Supervisor or Welding Inspection qualifications per AS 2214 or AS 1796 are desirable.
• High Risk Work Licences (Forklift, Dogging, Rigging) desirable.
• Strong understanding of AS 4100, AS/NZS ISO 3834, AS 5131.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise daily workshop activities in line with production priorities and schedules.
• Maintain an active presence on the workshop floor, providing hands-on leadership and monitoring progress.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify safety hazards, quality issues and improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate Leading Hands to ensure work is allocated, progressed and completed as planned.
• Verify availability of drawings, materials, equipment and labour before work commences and escalate constraints.
• Monitor labour hours and production progress, reporting to the Workshop Manager.
• Support safe, compliant and efficient workshop operations and quality records.
