Job summary

Viasat in Sydney is seeking an experienced Bid Manager to lead end-to-end bid processes for the Sovereign Space Programmes team. You will assemble cross-functional bid teams and manage compliant, compelling proposals across SATCOM, PNT, and emergent technologies.

The role requires 10+ years in bid management within defence/space sectors, strong stakeholder skills, and proficiency in MS Office tools. Travel may be required, and eligibility for security clearance NV1 is necessary.

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience in bid management within SATCOM/Defence/PNT/space or tech sectors.
• Experience in end-to-end bid processes, proposal writing, and negotiations.
• Knowledge of Bid/Capture processes (e.g. Shipleys) and governance.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at various levels.
• Strong project management and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Commercial understanding of contracts and pricing.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• MS Office proficiency: Visio, Project, SharePoint.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional bid teams across technical, commercial, finance and legal to win bids and contracts.
• Develop compelling bid content including executive summaries, value propositions and pricing models.
• Independently lead small to medium bids with oversight and support Sovereign Space Programmes Director in large captures.
• Develop bid methodologies, stakeholder maps, win themes, and compliance matrices; run win workshops and debriefs.
• Implement the company bid process and governance across the bid lifecycle.
• Support pipeline management and knowledge of APAC space market and customer requirements.
