Job summary

Medibank is seeking a Lead Architect - AI to shape enterprise AI strategy, guide responsible AI adoption, and deliver scalable, secure AI solutions. You will collaborate with senior leaders across business and technology functions to drive innovation and improve customer, employee and operational outcomes.

You will define architecture direction, roadmaps and guardrails, while mentoring teams and ensuring governance across platforms and services.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in solution or enterprise architecture within a complex organisation.
• Ability to design AI, data, automation or digital platform architectures aligned with business outcomes.
• Understanding modern AI concepts: generative AI, ML, LLMs, AI agents.
• Experience designing secure, scalable, reliable cloud-based solutions.
• Skilled at building trusted relationships and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Able to facilitate workshops and translate strategy into actionable outcomes.
• Understanding responsible AI practices: governance, privacy, risk, human oversight.
• Enjoy mentoring others to grow architecture capability.

Responsibilities

• Defining and evolving the enterprise architecture strategy for artificial intelligence capabilities across platforms, products and services.
• Developing AI roadmaps, architectural standards, reusable patterns and governance guardrails that support business priorities.
• Partnering with business and technology stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into practical AI solutions and strategies.
• Evaluating emerging AI technologies and identifying opportunities to improve customer, employee and operational experiences.
• Leading architecture discussions, influencing decision-making and providing strategic guidance to senior stakeholders.
• Supporting architecture governance processes to ensure AI solutions meet security, privacy, compliance and risk requirements.
• Managing and maintaining key architecture artefacts, including reference architectures, standards, decision records and technology guidance.
• Coaching and mentoring architects and technical teams to uplift capability and encourage best practice adoption.
• Monitoring industry trends and translating emerging developments into actionable recommendations for the organisation.
