Job summary

Airwallex is seeking an experienced engineer to lead the development of AI tools that protect our systems, data, and employees. You will build and maintain infrastructure for internal tooling, including Kubernetes clusters, serverless workloads, ETL pipelines, and large-scale log pipelines.

You will collaborate with product teams, drive automation to reduce risk, and mentor engineers while working from our Sydney or Melbourne office three days a week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Experience with production codebases.
• Experience with at least one scripting language (e.g., Python) and one systems programming language (e.g., Go or C/C++).
• Experience with modern cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, serverless workloads, and Kubernetes.
• Strong autonomous delivery track record and clear communication with stakeholders.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn and solve complex problems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of AI tools and applications from inception through implementation.
• Build infrastructure for reliable internal tooling (Kubernetes clusters, serverless workloads, ETL pipelines).
• Support incident response with threat hunting, remediation, and security scanning tools.
• Partner with engineers to identify automation opportunities and reduce risk.
• Mentor Software Engineers and raise engineering standards.
