Job summary

Uniting Port Macquarie is seeking a Laundry Assistant for a casual relief role, supporting laundry services across the home. You will assist with cleaning, handling and distribution of residents' clothing and linen, ensuring dignity and comfort for residents. Shifts are flexible, with up to 15 hours weekly and possible weekend coverage.

The role emphasises empathy, adaptability and alignment with Uniting’s values, in a not-for-profit aged care setting with ongoing staff support and development.

Qualifications

• Previous laundry experience is desirable
• Experience in community care or aged care is a bonus
• Demonstrates empathy, adaptability and resourcefulness in service delivery

Responsibilities

• Handle washing, drying and distribution of residents' clothing and linen across the home.
• Maintain cleanliness and ensure clothes are returned to residents promptly and respectfully

Role Overview

As a Laundry Assistant, you will play an important role in creating a comfortable, welcoming and well-maintained environment for our residents. Working across Laundry services, you’ll support the cleaning, handling and distribution of residents’ clothing, linen and other items ensuring everything is cared for and returned appropriately. This resident-focused role helps promote dignity, comfort, independence and wellbeing while delivering high-quality laundry services across the home.

This is a casual relief position, offering approximately 10-15 hours per week. Shifts will vary based on operational needs and may include Saturday and Sunda hours, as well as short notice sick leave coverage.

Qualifications & Experience

• Previous laundry experience (Desirable, not mandatory)
• Previous experience in community care or aged care is a bonus
