Job summary

Knox Grammar School is seeking a part-time Language Teacher – Chinese (0.5 FTE) on a fixed-term contract for Terms 1 and 2, 2027. The ideal candidate will inspire students with Chinese language and culture, and contribute to a thriving Languages Department.

Role requires experience teaching Stage 6 Chinese and Literature HSC, and Years 9–12 learners, with strong planning, assessment, and classroom management skills. Knox offers competitive pay and supportive staff programs.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching Stage 6 Chinese and Literature HSC.
• Experience teaching Years 9–12 Chinese or equivalent knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Chinese language instruction and cultural studies to Years 9–12.

Knox Grammar School is an independent, multi-campus Kindergarten to Year 12 day and boarding school for boys, located at Wahroonga on Sydney’s North Shore. About The Role

Knox Grammar School is seeking to appoint a Language Teacher – Chinese on a part time (0.5 FTE), fixed term contract for Terms 1 and 2 2027.

The ideal candidate will be a passionate language educator who enjoys inspiring students to engage with Chinese language and culture and would welcome the opportunity to contribute to a flourishing Languages Department.

The role requires an individual who can demonstrate:

• Experience of teaching (or extensive knowledge of) the Stage 6 Chinese and Literature HSC course.
• Experience of teaching students with some prior knowledge of the Chinese language across Years 9-12.
• A variety of effective teaching strategies to engage students of varying abilities on their path to achieving specific learning outcomes.
• Experience in the design, development and administration of a range of assessment tasks.
• Effective student management strategies for students with diverse learning needs and abilities.
• Integration into classroom teaching and learning
• Departmental teaching and learning initiatives
• Departmental administrative requirements
• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a collegial department with high expectations of both staff and students.
• A passion for promoting the study of Chinese language and culture and fostering student engagement.
