Job summary

Green By Nature is seeking an experienced softscape landscaper with leadership skills to maintain and enhance parks, gardens and public spaces. You will lead a small team, coordinate mulching, planting, soft-fall and edging works, and ensure safety and quality across projects.

Qualities include strong horticultural knowledge, OSHA-style safety awareness and the ability to train teammates while delivering seasonal landscape improvement works in Melbourne’s public spaces.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a small team on softscape projects.

• Valid driver’s licence and compliance with safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Deliver programmed mulching works across parks, gardens and open spaces.
• Undertake soft-fall renovation programs: removal, prep, install and top-up.
• Complete path top-up and rejuvenation works with appropriate materials.
• Install, repair and maintain timber landscape edging.
• Undertake general planting: trees, shrubs, groundcovers, grasses.
• Perform gardening and horticultural tasks: prep, weeding, pruning, soil improvement.
• Operate and maintain landscaping tools and machinery safely.
• Keep work areas clean, tidy and safe for public and team.
• Identify site issues and report safety or environmental concerns.
• Provide guidance and training to team members to foster a productive culture.
• Assist planning and delivery of seasonal landscape improvements.

About You

You are an experienced soft scape landscaper or horticulture professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for maintaining high-quality parks, gardens and public spaces.

You are confident leading a small team and coordinating a range of softscape maintenance and improvement works, including mulching programs, soft-fall renovations, path top-ups, timber edging, planting and general gardening activities.

You hold a valid driver's licence, White Card, National Police Check, Working with Children Check and a Certificate III in Landscape Construction, Horticulture or a related qualification.

About the Role

The role is focused on softscape landscaping works and the ongoing improvement of parks, gardens, streetscapes and public open spaces. You will be responsible for ensuring all activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering programmed mulching works across parks, gardens and public open spaces.
• Undertaking soft-fall renovation programs, including removal, preparation, installation and top-up of soft-fall materials.
• Completing path top-up and rejuvenation works, including the distribution and placement of appropriate materials.
• Installing, repairing and maintaining timber garden and landscape edging.
• Undertaking general planting works, including trees, shrubs, groundcovers, grasses and seasonal plantings.
• Completing general gardening and horticultural works, including garden preparation, weeding, pruning, soil improvement and garden rejuvenation.
• Operating and maintaining landscaping tools, machinery and equipment safely and appropriately.
• Ensuring work areas are kept clean, tidy and safe for the public and team members.
• Identifying site issues and reporting maintenance, safety or environmental concerns.
• Providing guidance, training and support to team members while fostering a positive and productive team culture.
• Assisting with the planning and delivery of seasonal and programmed landscape improvement works.
