Job summary

Jumbo is seeking a reliable Yard Labourer for our Narangba recycling yard. This casual, site-based role involves sorting recovered materials, keeping the yard and equipment clean, and supporting plant operators and drivers.

The ideal candidate understands safety-first work practices, can handle physical tasks, and communicates well with team members. A current driver's licence and transport are preferred, with opportunities to gain formal tickets over time.

Responsibilities

• Pick, sort and separate recovered materials.

• Support plant operators, drivers and maintenance staff daily.
• Always work safely, wear PPE and follow safety rules.

Labourer - Recycling Facility (Narangba)

Jumbo is a locally owned southeast Queensland waste management, resource recovery and recycling group. Since 2016 we've grown from a single skip truck to an entire fleet, thousands of bins, and our own recycling operation - and we're still growing. We're a hands-on, no-nonsense team that takes safety seriously and looks after our people.

About the Role

We're looking for a reliable Yard Labourer to join our recycling yard at Narangba, reporting to the Yard Supervisor.

This is a casual role with good hours - averaging 30 to 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with the occasional Saturday. It's physical, hands-on work keeping the yard running: picking and sorting recovered materials, keeping the site and equipment clean, and supporting our plant operators, drivers and maintenance crew.

What You'll Be Doing

• Picking, sorting and separating recovered materials
• Maintaining the yard and equipment to a good standard
• Cleaning and general upkeep of machinery, tools and equipment
• Dust suppression around the site
• General site upkeep and housekeeping
• Supporting plant operators, drivers, maintenance staff and supervisors with day-to-day tasks
• Working safely at all times, wearing your PPE, and reporting hazards and near misses

What We're Looking For

• A strong work ethic and genuine reliability - you turn up, on time, every day
• Ability to perform the inherent physical requirements of the role, including frequent manual handling, lifting, bending, climbing, and prolonged standing and walking in an outdoor industrial environment
• A safety-first attitude and willingness to follow procedures and SWMS
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
• Current driver's licence and own reliable transport

Highly Regarded (Not Essential)

• Previous experience in recycling, waste, quarry, civil or construction environments
• White Card
• Plant tickets - front-end loader, excavator or similar
• Truck license

Working Conditions
