Job summary

Moree Plains Shire Council in Moree is seeking a reliable, hands-on Water Services Labourer to support the operation, maintenance and upkeep of water and wastewater infrastructure, including treatment plants and pumping stations. You will perform general labouring tasks, assist with repairs, operate plant and equipment, keep work areas safe and documented, and participate in on‑call duties.

This permanent full-time role is 38 hours per week, located in Moree, with a salary range of $1,075.60 to

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in construction, plumbing, water services or similar.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to complete basic paperwork and use computer systems.
  • Current White Card and Class C or Provisional Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out general labouring duties to support Water Services.
  • Assist with repairs and maintenance of pumps and water infrastructure.
  • Safely operate and maintain plant, tools and equipment.
  • Complete basic work records and documentation.
  • Keep work areas, vehicles, plant and equipment clean and safe.
  • Identify and report hazards, faults and safety issues.
  • Follow Council’s WHS requirements and safe work practices.
  • Work with contractors and other team members as required.
  • Attend toolbox meetings and training.
  • Participate in on‑call and overtime work when required.

The Opportunity

Provide hands‑on support to Council’s Water Services team, assisting with the operation, maintenance and upkeep of water and wastewater infrastructure, including treatment plants, pumping stations and associated equipment. Contribute to the delivery of safe and reliable water services by undertaking general labouring duties, assisting with repairs and maintenance, operating plant and equipment, and maintaining safe and serviceable work areas.

About You

You are a reliable, hard‑working person who enjoys practical, hands‑on work. You work well with others, take pride in doing a good job and understand the importance of working safely.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Practical Experience: Experience in hands‑on work such as construction, plumbing, water services or a similar environment.
  • Teamwork: The ability to follow instructions, work well as part of a team and get on with the job.
  • Safety: A strong focus on working safely and a willingness to work in confined spaces when required.
  • Work Skills: The ability to complete basic paperwork, usecomputer systems and carry out everyday measurements and calculations.
  • Licences: A current White Card and Class C or Provisional Driver Licence.
