Job summary

Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking an experienced Event and Function Coordinator to manage the day-to-day operations and activation of the Moree Memorial Hall and other community venues. You will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of signature events that promote the region, boost tourism and strengthen community connections, with hands-on responsibilities from bump-in to bump-out.

This role requires flexible hours, budgeting, sponsorships, and oversight of staff and volunteers,

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and delivering events, including planning, logistics, and operational delivery.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills to build relationships with community groups, performers, sponsors, and contractors.
  • Experience managing budgets, procurement, risk management and WHS for events.
  • Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required by event needs.
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence, White Card and Working with Children Check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily task allocation to Event and Function Support Assistant, casual staff and volunteers.

The Opportunity
Step into a vibrant and highly rewarding leadership role. As the Event and Function Coordinator, you will manage the day-to-day operations and activation of the Moree Memorial Hall and other community venues. You will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of signature events that promote the region, boost tourism, and strengthen community connections.

This is a hands‑on position where you will oversee event logistics from bump-in to bump-out, manage budgets and sponsorships, and directly provide daily task allocation to the Event and Function Support Assistant, casual staff, and volunteers.

About You

You are an organised, adaptable, and proactive leader with a flair for stakeholder engagement and innovative event delivery. You thrive in a dynamic environment and have the problem-solving skills to manage multiple projects, operational deadlines, and on-the-ground logistics.

To succeed in this role, you will bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Events Management, Tourism, Hospitality, Marketing, Business, or Community Development.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and delivering events, including planning, logistics, and operational delivery.
  • Highly developed communication and customer service skills to build productive relationships with community groups, performers, sponsors, and contractors.
  • Experience managing operational event requirements like bookings, procurement, budgets, risk management, and work health and safety.
  • Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required by operational event needs.
  • A current Class C Drivers Licence, White Card, and a Working with Children Check.
