Job summary

Aeris Resources Cracow Gold Operations in central Queensland is seeking a laboratory technician to register, prepare and analyse samples from the mine site. You will work closely with Processing, Geology and Environmental teams to ensure accurate data supports daily gold recovery and production decisions.

The role is hands-on, requires at least 2 years’ mine-site lab experience, QA/QC knowledge and familiarity with gold procedures.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ experience in a mine site laboratory.
• Laboratory or sampling qualification is highly regarded.
• Solid QA/QC understanding.
• Knowledge of gold analytical procedures.
• Knowledge of gold processing operations (desirable).
• Commitment to safety and teammate safety.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping; prioritisation and organisation.

Responsibilities

• Register and prepare processing plant, geology and environmental samples (drying, crushing, pulverising).
• Conduct routine laboratory analyses (wet chemistry, metallurgical tests).
• Record, verify and report analytical results to support operations.
• Support QA/QC processes and flag errors or anomalies.
• Complete sample and production records and provide clear handovers between shifts.
• Maintain clean and safe laboratory and equipment; keep workspace tidy.
• Meet daily and monthly sample turnaround and production targets.
• Perform repetitive manual handling during shifts.

Job description

The Nitty Gritty

Reporting to the Processing Operations Superintendent, you’ll work closely with the Processing, Geology and Environmental teams to prepare, analyse and report samples accurately and on time. The data you produce underpins our gold recovery and production decisions every day.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Registering and preparing processing plant, geology and environmental samples, including drying, crushing and pulverising
• Conducting routine daily laboratory analyses, including wet chemistry and metallurgical test work (moisture determination, size analysis and gold leaching testwork)
• Recording, verifying and reporting analytical results accurately to support plant, geology and environmental reporting
• Supporting QA/QC processes, including standards and duplicates, and flagging any errors or anomalies
• Completing sample and production records and providing clear handovers between shifts
• Cleaning and maintaining the laboratory and its equipment, and keeping your work area safe and tidy
• Meeting daily and monthly sample turnaround and production targets
• Working in a hands-on role that involves repetitive manual handling throughout the shift

What you bring:

• At least 2 years’ experience in a mine site laboratory
• A laboratory, sampling or other industry-recognised qualification (highly regarded)
• A sound understanding of quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC)
• Knowledge of gold analytical procedures
• Knowledge of gold processing operations (highly desirable)
• A strong commitment to working safely, and to keeping your workmates safe
• The ability to prioritise and organise your work to meet deadlinesStrong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
