Job summary

Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer in Sydney seeks a commercially-minded Knowledge Lawyer with 5+ years post-admission in class actions to lead AI-enabled workflows and knowledge resources. You will collaborate with Partners, Learning & Development and BD to publish thought leadership, build client talks, and deliver training, while advancing the practice's data strategy

Qualifications

  • A law degree and at least five years' post-admission experience in class actions or related disputes.
  • Ability to build strategic business relationships and identify new business opportunities.
  • High credibility to advise partners, legal staff and business services staff.
  • Capable of autonomous, flexible collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
  • Innovative mindset with interest in AI and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor market developments to identify opportunities with prospective and existing clients, including class action pitch opportunities.
  • Manage the preparation of key materials for external business development activities, including client talks, podcasts and roundtables.
  • Contribute to the Class Actions practice's AI and data strategy by helping to develop and implement AI-enabled workflows, products and knowledge resources.
  • Collaborate with Partners, Business Development and Learning & Development to create and edit thought leadership articles, training and blogs.
  • Support initiatives that leverage matter data and market intelligence to create value for clients and the practice.
  • Act as subject matter expert for projects relying on practice group content or for knowledge-related projects within the team.
  • Focus on increasing skills and commerciality around the team makeup/leverage, whilst working with pricing and resourcing managers to ensure the profitability of the work.
