Job summary

Haverick Meats in Botany, NSW, is seeking a skilled Knifehand to join our production team on a casual basis starting at 3am. You will perform precise knife work and meat processing to our high quality standards, contributing to safety, efficiency and product quality in a busy facility.

Ideal candidates have proven Knifehand or meat processing experience, familiarity with food safety practices (HACCP understanding preferred), and ability to work extended shifts with focus and teamwork.

Based in Botany, NSW, this role is fundamental to our meat processing operations, where precision, efficiency and food safety standards are paramount. As a Knifehand, you will be responsible for utilising specialised cutting techniques to process meat products to the highest quality standards, directly contributing to our reputation for excellence in the meat industry.

Key responsibilities

• Perform precise knife work and meat processing tasks using hand tools and specialised equipment in accordance with company standards
• Process various cuts of meat to specified weights, sizes and quality requirements
• Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene protocols throughout all processing operations
• Work efficiently to meet daily production targets whilst maintaining product quality
• Inspect meat products for quality and ensure only products meeting standards progress through the production line
• Maintain a clean and organised workstation, including regular equipment cleaning and sanitisation
• Operate within a fast-paced production environment, often requiring extended standing and repetitive hand and arm movements
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow and consistent output
• Report any issues with equipment, product quality or safety concerns to supervisory staff immediately

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as a Knifehand or in a similar meat processing or assembly role within a manufacturing or food production environment
• Demonstrated proficiency with specialised cutting tools and ability to execute precise knife work consistently
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements, including HACCP principles where applicable
• Physical fitness and stamina to work extended shifts in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
• Ability to maintain concentration and precision during repetitive tasks over extended periods
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor control
• A proactive approach to safety and quality, with the ability to identify and report potential issues
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Flexibility to work on a casual basis with varying shift patterns as required
• Relevant food handling qualifications or certifications are highly desirable
• Previous experience in an Australian meat processing facility is advantageous
