Job summary

Pembrook Resourcing in Ipswich is seeking a Preparation Technician to prepare vehicles for sale or delivery, performing routine servicing and inspections. You will work in a busy dealership workshop and contribute to high standards of workmanship.

Requirements include a strong mechanical background, NVQ Level 3 desired, and a full UK driving licence. You will maintain records and may mentor junior technicians, with a Monday–Friday schedule and growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

As a Preparation Technician, Your Primary Responsibility Will Be To Prepare Vehicles To a High Standard For Sale Or Delivery. This Includes Conducting Routine Maintenance, Servicing, Inspections, And Mechanical Repairs On a Variety Of Vehicles. You Will Be Expected To

• Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify any mechanical issues or necessary repairs, ensuring all work meets the dealership's high standards.
• Carry out routine servicing tasks, including oil changes, brake checks, and tyre rotations, using diagnostic tools and equipment to assess vehicle performance.
• Collaborate closely with the wider workshop team to ensure that all vehicles are completed efficiently and safely, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of all work carried out, including parts used and time spent on each task, to ensure transparency and accountability.
• Uphold excellent standards of workmanship, demonstrating a keen attention to detail in every aspect of your work.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

• A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
• Relevant automotive qualifications, such as NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, are desirable and will be considered an advantage.

Nice to Have

• Experience with diagnostic equipment and software, such as OBD-II scanners, to troubleshoot and resolve vehicle issues.
• Familiarity with electric and hybrid vehicle systems, as the automotive industry increasingly shifts towards alternative fuel technologies.
• Additional certifications, such as those from the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) or similar, would be beneficial.
