Allpress is seeking a Kitchenhand & Catering Assistant to join the café team on a 6 Month Fixed Term Contract. You’ll help with basic prep, plating, and service, working across education, corporate, venues and similar sites. Enjoy a fast-paced environment with coffee at the core and opportunities to grow within a major hospitality group.

You’ll follow recipes, maintain high hygiene standards, and collaborate with the team to deliver consistent quality across varied sites and menus.

Qualifications

• Confidence with food preparation and basic cooking.
• Strong food safety and hygiene standards.
• Fast, organised and reliable during busy service periods.
• Ability to follow recipes and presentation standards consistently.
• Team‑focused and willing to jump across all kitchen duties.
• Availability for early mornings and weekends.
• Food Safety/Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) certification, or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Arrive early and enjoy a coffee with the team before service.
• Assist the Cafe Manager with daily food preparation.
• Wash dishes and maintain a clean, organized back-of-house area.
• Ensure food safety, cleanliness and quality standards throughout the day.
• Bake sweet treats and toast sandwiches.
• Plate dishes and run the pass during service.
• Support front-of-house team on the floor or till when required.
• Help with stock organization and general kitchen operations.
• Pitch in wherever needed to keep the cafe running smoothly.

Kitchenhand & Catering Assistant

Hourly Rate: $27.09 + 25% casual loading

We are looking for experienced Catering Assistants and Kitchenhands to join our premium casual team, supporting corporate kitchens and delivering exceptional hospitality services.

• Provide welcoming and efficient hospitality service across a range of locations
• Assist with basic food preparation, plating and meal service
• Wash and clean kitchen utensils, equipment, crockery and catering items
• Keep the kitchen and service areas clean, tidy and safe
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards consistently

The Person

• At least 1 year experience in a Kitchenhand or Catering Assistant role
• Friendly communicator with a team-first attitude
• Reliable, energetic and well-presented
• Comfortable working across Education, Corporate, Venues and similar sites
• Able to obtain a National Police Check and Working with Children Check

About Your New Role

A Day in the Life
