Job summary

Ashgrove Meals on Wheels is seeking a motivated Kitchen Hand to join our community kitchen. You will follow the Chef’s directions, assist in meal preparation, and support volunteers in a friendly team environment.

Typical duties include dishwashing, basic cooking from recipes, food prep, cleaning and sanitising equipment, and maintaining food safety standards. The role is part-time, 20 hours per week, with a fixed morning roster.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of kitchen hand experience is required.
• Australian work rights are required.

Ashgrove Meals on Wheels is a non-profit organisation providing nutritious meals and support to members of our community who need assistance.

Your position will be to follow the Chef’s directions, assist in the preparation of meals, and support our volunteers.

We are looking for a physically fit, confident individual with strong communication skills who works well in a team.

To be considered for this role you should:

Have at least 1 year of experience as a Kitchen Hand

Have Australian work rights

Your day will typically include general kitchen duties:

Dishwashing

Cleaning of the floor and toliets.

Assisting the chef and volunteers as required

Food preparation

Basic cooking from recipes

Maintaining food safety standards

Cleaning and sanitising food prep machinery

Learning and using our labelling system for client special meals

The position is 5 hours per day (20 hours per week), though some flexibility is required. You will typically work a four-day roster from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, enjoying Thursdays and weekends off.
