Job summary

C&K Yuingi Community Childcare Centre in Queensland is seeking a caring Kitchenhand to join our team. You will help prepare healthy meals for children, work alongside our Cook, and ensure dietary requirements are safely supported every day.

We offer a stable schedule of 25 hours per week (Mon-Fri), no weekends or evenings, with opportunities for growth and access to subsidised childcare. The role supports children's wellbeing in a nurturing, child-safe environment.

Qualifications

• Passionate about supporting children’s wellbeing through nutritious food.
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery highly desirable.
• Food Handling Certificate required or desirable.
• Applicants with relevant kitchen experience considered if qualifications are not held.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Cook in preparing healthy meals for children.
• Ensure dietary requirements are safely, thoughtfully and confidently supported.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic and well-organised kitchen area.
• Collaborate with centre staff to support meal routines and nutrition.

Working alongside our Cook, you’ll help prepare healthy and delicious meals while ensuring every child’s dietary requirements are safely, thoughtfully and confidently supported each day.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about supporting children’s wellbeing through nutritious food and a positive kitchen environment.

You will ideally have:

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or related discipline) highly desirable
• Food Handling Certificate

However, we are also happy to consider applicants with relevant kitchen or food preparation experience who may not hold formal qualifications.

You’ll also need:

• A valid Blue Card
• Current Police Check
• Completion of the National Child Safety Training – Foundation Certificate
