Job summary

Hamilton Island Enterprises on Hamilton Island, QLD, is seeking reliable Kitchen Stewards to support our diverse culinary teams across the island. Join a network of venues, with subsidised staff accommodation and discounts on dining, activities and gym membership.

As a Kitchen Steward, you’ll help maintain high cleanliness standards, operate dishwashing equipment, and support culinary teams during busy service across multiple outlets and events.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, hospitality or cleaning environment is advantageous.
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, hygiene and safety.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Valid working rights in Australia for a minimum of six months.
• Open Australian driver licence preferred for some roles.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas.
• Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Support kitchen teams with general cleaning and basic preparation duties.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures.
• Assist with waste disposal and ensure back-of-house areas remain clean and organised.
• Work collaboratively with chefs and fellow stewarding team members during busy service periods.

Your Role

As a Kitchen Steward, you’ll play an important role in supporting the smooth operation of our kitchens. Working across a variety of restaurants, cafes and event venues, you’ll help maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation while supporting our culinary teams during daily service.
