Hamilton Island is seeking reliable and hardworking Kitchen Stewards to join our diverse culinary teams across the island. With over 21 bars and restaurants, award-winning venues and large-scale events, we offer opportunities within fast-paced kitchen environments set in one of Australia's most breathtaking locations.

As a Kitchen Steward, you'll support our kitchens with cleanliness, hygiene and organisation, working across restaurants, cafes and event venues.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas.
• Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Support kitchen teams with cleaning and basic preparation duties.
• Follow food safety and WHS procedures.
• Assist with waste disposal and keep back-of-house areas tidy.
• Collaborate with chefs during busy service periods.

Your Role

As a Kitchen Steward, you'll play an important role in supporting the smooth operation of our kitchens. Working across a variety of restaurants, cafes and event venues, you'll help maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation while supporting our culinary teams during daily service.

Where You'll Make an Impact

• Maintain the cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas.
• Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Support kitchen teams with general cleaning and basic preparation duties.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures.
• Assist with waste disposal and ensure back-of-house areas remain clean and organised.
• Work collaboratively with chefs and fellow stewarding team members during busy service periods.

What We're Looking For

You are a reliable and motivated team member who takes pride in maintaining a clean and organised workplace. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy working as part of a team and are willing to assist wherever needed.

To Be Successful, You Will Need:

• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, hospitality or cleaning environment is advantageous.
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, hygiene and safety.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Valid working rights in Australia for a minimum of six months.
• Open Australian driver licence preferred for some roles.
