Job summary

Sofitel Brisbane Central is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Steward to maintain cleanliness, hygiene and organisation within our kitchen facilities in Brisbane. You will support the culinary team to ensure a smooth and safe operation.

With a focus on food safety and efficient workflows, you will clean, sanitise and store kitchen items, manage waste and assist with storage areas. This role suits someone with kitchen experience and a flexible approach to shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months experience in a similar role in a commercial kitchen or hospitality setting.
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and capable of heavy lifting.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to a clean, safe work environment
• Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
• Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays and night shifts as needed
• Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and procedures
• Basic understanding of kitchen operations and equipment

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitise all kitchen areas, including floors, walls, and work surfaces, adhering to established cleaning schedules and food safety standards
• Wash, sanitise, and properly store all kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, and glassware using industrial dishwashers or hand-washing techniques as appropriate
• Assist in the maintenance of food storage areas, including refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage, ensuring proper organisation and cleanliness
• Remove and dispose of kitchen waste regularly, keeping the kitchen and waste areas free from refuse
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, reporting any hazards or maintenance issues to the Kitchen Management
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain an efficient and organised work environment
• Participate in regular cleaning inspections and quality control checks
• Adapt to changing priorities and assist with additional kitchen duties as required.
