Job summary

Guardian Childcare & Education is seeking a Kitchen Hand to support the Centre Chef in preparing nutritious meals and snacks for children in a safe, clean environment. You will assist with food preparation, serving, cleaning, stock rotation and daily kitchen tasks, while promoting healthy eating and positive food experiences for children and Educators.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen, hospitality, food service, or childcare is desirable
• Food Handling Certificate or Food Safety Supervisor Certificate is desirable; knowledge of safe food handling and hygiene
• Awareness of responsibilities under current Child Protection Laws
• Current Working with Children’s Check or state equivalent

Responsibilities

• Assisting with preparation and serving of nutritious meals and snacks for children
• Supporting daily kitchen operations, including cleaning, food preparation, and stock rotation
• Maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene
• Ensuring kitchen equipment, utensils, and prep areas are clean and organized
• Supporting individual dietary, allergy, cultural, and medical requirements
• Building positive relationships with children, educators, families, and the wider centre community
• Contributing to children's health, wellbeing, and positive food experiences each day

Work alongside an experienced Centre Chef, creating nutritious meals and healthy habits that help children thrive.

Your food journey starts here. As a Kitchen Hand at Guardian, you'll play an important role in helping young children grow and thrive through nutritious meals and snacks prepared in a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.

Working alongside our Centre Chef, you'll support the preparation and serving of delicious, healthy food for children and Educators. You'll also be part of creating positive food experiences, helping children learn about healthy eating, fresh ingredients, and where their food comes from.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the Centre Chef, you'll enjoy:

To be considered, you will have:

• Previous experience in a kitchen, hospitality, food service, or childcare environment (desirable)
• Food Handling Certificate and/or Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (desirable)Knowledge of safe food handling and hygiene practices
• An awareness of your personal responsibilities under current Child Protection Laws
• Current Working with Children's Check or state equivalent
