Job summary

Allpress Espresso is looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our café team in a hands-on, all-rounder role. You will work closely with our National Kitchen Lead and Café team to deliver a simple, quality food offering that perfectly complements our coffee.

This is a fast-paced, team-driven environment where you’ll thrive by producing great food, collaborating with colleagues, and stepping in where needed to keep the café running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Previous café or commercial kitchen experience.
• Confidence with food preparation and basic cooking.
• Strong food safety and hygiene standards.
• Fast, organised and reliable during busy service periods.
• Ability to follow recipes and presentation standards consistently.
• Team-focused and willing to jump across all kitchen duties.
• Availability for early mornings and weekends.
• Food Safety/Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) certification, or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation for the day ahead.
• Wash dishes and maintain a clean back-of-house area.
• Ensure food safety, cleanliness and quality throughout service.
• Support front-of-house when required.

About your new role

We're looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our café team in a hands-on, all-rounder role. Working closely with our National Kitchen Lead and Café team, you'll help deliver a simple, quality food offering that perfectly complements our coffee.

This is a role for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in producing great food, and is happy to jump in wherever needed. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment, work collaboratively with the team, and be confident working autonomously when required.

A day in the life

A typical day could look like:

• Arriving bright and early and enjoying a coffee with the team before service begins
• Assisting the National Kitchen Lead with food preparation for the day ahead
• Washing dishes and maintaining a clean, organised back-of-house area
• Ensuring food safety, cleanliness and quality standards are upheld throughout the day

It could also include:

• Baking sweet treats and toasting sandwiches
• Plating dishes and running the pass during service
• Supporting the front-of-house team on the floor or till when required
• Helping with stock organisation and general kitchen operations
• Pitching in wherever needed to keep the café running smoothly

About you

You have a passion for great food, quality coffee and hospitality, and enjoy being part of a close-knit team where everyone contributes to delivering an exceptional customer experience.

• Experience supporting menu development
